Roof underlay under metal roof tiles
Construction guide

Why tin roofs "rain" indoors, and how membranes stop it

Condensation under metal roofs is one of the most common building complaints in warm, humid climates.

On clear nights a metal roof cools fast. Warm, moist indoor air meets the cold sheet and condenses, then drips onto ceilings and insulation.

A breathable underlay catches that moisture and lets vapour escape through ventilation, instead of trapping it like polythene does. The result is drier ceilings, longer-lasting insulation and less rust.

Choosing sterile packaging for hot, humid supply chains

What to look for when packs must stay sterile across long routes and warm storerooms.

Check four things: compatibility with your sterilization method, a stable microbial barrier after processing, resistance to tears and punctures in transit, and a clean peel that sheds no fibres.

Moisture-resistant materials like Hypak™ hold up better than paper where humidity is high. Always validate the finished pack to ISO 11607.

Breathable PPE and heat stress: why comfort is a safety feature

Uncomfortable suits get worn badly or not at all.

In hot conditions, non-breathable suits trap heat and sweat, raising the risk of heat stress and tempting workers to open or remove them.

Breathable fabrics let vapour escape while still blocking liquids and particles, so protection stays on for the whole shift.

Glossary

Terms worth knowing

Flash-spinning
Releasing a polymer solution so the solvent evaporates instantly, leaving ultra-fine continuous filaments.
HDPE
High-density polyethylene: strong, chemical resistant and recyclable.
Breathability (MVTR)
How much water vapour passes through a material.
Hydrostatic head
The water pressure a material resists before leaking.
Sterile barrier system
Packaging that keeps a device sterile until use, validated under ISO 11607.
Clean peel
Opening a sealed pack without tearing or shedding fibres.
Breather membrane
A wall or roof layer that blocks liquid water but lets vapour out.
EPD
Environmental Product Declaration: a verified life-cycle impact report.
